Train LikeThat

Train Like That

written by Marti Hargrave

1)  She was waiting on a package from her Mama one night

The postmaster said the train was late to arrive

A boy was scribbling something in a leather bound book

She was scootching closer to sneak her a look

He pretended not to notice her noticing him

She said my name is Maggie and gave him a grin

Amazed by the image down on the page

Was a twenty second portrait of her own sweet face

She said I've never seen anybody draw like that

Boy you've got an angel guiding your hand

He said, thank you kindly for the compliment

That's why Im leaving town just as fast as I can, she said

Chorus:  Ride the train, follow the track

Chase your dreams and don't look back

Oh, I've never known that kind of strength

For fear of what I'd leave behind

So ride boy ride, of you can find, a train like that

2)  In a little while they heard the whistle blow

Neither one wanted it to be time to go

He stared out the window up at the train

She said you never even told me your name

He said my name is Tom but it don't matter much

'Cause even though it's late I've got a dream to catch

She let go of his hand as he climbed on up

And blew a little kiss to him for good luck and said

Chorus:  Ride the train, follow the track

Chase your dreams and don't look back

Oh, I've never known that kind of strength

For fear of what I'd leave behind

So ride boy ride, of you can find, a train like that

Bridge

     As the train pulled away

Maggie had the package in her hands

And as the steam cloud cleared

     She took a second glance

And just beyond the tracks, he was standing there

3)  Now the picture that he drew of her on that day

Is framed on the mantle upon display

She wakes him every morning with a single kiss

He thinks he never know life could be like this

Maggie's quit her job at the grocery

She's putting final touches on the nursery

And Tom spends his days at the high school gym

Putting on the plays the kids are in and tells them

Chorus:  Ride your train, follow the tracks

Chase your dreams and don't look back

But you never know what you left behind

Might just be what you're looking for

At your own front door, you just might find

                A train like that

She was waiting on a package from her mama one night

What About You

What About You

written by Mary Oyler & Leslie Barker

1)  The road's getting rocky and I'm taking the blame

You say I never listen and I always complain

Well maybe that's true, but what about you

Say you're pulling like a train on an uphill track

You're never gonna make it if I ride your back

That could be true, but what about you

Chorus:

What about you, you, you, baby what about you

All the money in the world won't buy back the time you lose

Sweet loving is all we need to have and to hold

       (More precious than gold)

Baby I'm workin' hard to save promises we made

The day we said said I do

       What about you

2)  Dragging home late lookin' for some peace

Never get to touch you till you're sound asleep

You know that won't do, abd what about you

Say you're working like the devil for a rainy day

But baby if it drives you to an early grave

What would I do, and what about you

Chorus:

What about you, you, you, baby what about you

All the money in the world won't buy back the time you lose

Sweet loving is all we need to have and to hold

       (More precious than gold)

Baby I'm looking hard to save promises we made

The day we said said I do

       What about you

Chorus:

What about you, you, you, baby what about you

All the money in the world won't buy back the time you lose

Sweet loving is all we need to have and to hold

       (More precious than gold)

Baby I'm workin' hard to save promises we made

The day we said said I do

       What about you

What about you, what about you

       Honey what about you

What about you, what about you

       Honey what about you

What about you, what about you

       Honey what about you

What about you, what about you

       Honey what about you

Jenny Mae

Jenny Mae

written by Leslie Barker & Mary Oyler

1)  I was born a poor miner's  boy I worked the deep dark caves

Went to church every Sunday, always prayed

But my life took a turn, one day and fateful day

There came a fair young beauty, and her name was Jenny Mae

I learned from her the things of life no righteous man should know

Broke me down, broke my heart and broke my soul

Driven only by desire, I never felt the shame

I'll never be the man I was because of Jenny Mae

Chorus

I set my hand to this confession, when you read it I'll be gone

     (I'll be gone)

That girl was my obsession should've never done me wrong

     (Done me wrong)

I can never take the blame for the price that I will pay

For the devil was a woman and her name was Jenny Mae

2)  Jenny had a thirst for life that only money buys

Gave up everything I had to keep her satisfied

And  when all I had was gone with nothing to be sold

I found her with another man and I left their bodies cold

Father don't cry for me for what I've sown I have reaped

Mama pray for the Lord my soul to keep

As darkness overcome me and life slowly slips away

I curse the day I meet that fair young girl named Jenny Mae

Chorus

I set my hand to this confession, when you read it I'll be gone

     (I'll be gone)

That girl was obsession should've never done me wrong

     (Done me wrong)

I can never take the blame for the price that I will pay

For the devil was a woman and her name was Jenny Mae

For the Devil was a woman and her name was Jenny Mae

Yes the devil was a woman, and her name was Jenny Mae

It Musta Been The Weathe

It Musta Been The Weather

written by Lisa Vig

  Leslie:  Sometimes your sad

   M0ss:  Sometimes your blue

Lisa:  Sometimes you feel a little mischief too

Greg:  Well you can always or at least try to

All:  Blame it on the - weather

1) Lisa

I was gettin' cabin fever with so many days of rain

Watching little rivulets running down my window pane

We said that it was over but still I'm feeling blue

I thought it would be easy but I'm really missing you

Chorus

Oh woah ho hey hey now well it musta been the weather

Ooh Lord child it musta been the weather

I'm feeling melancholy 'cause I thought we'd be together

Uh hey hey now well it musta been the weather

2) Moss

     Well
Last night was so cold I could see my breath

I said come closer baby or you'll catch your death

I told her we should stay in and snuggle by the fire

And maybe we'd surrender to our intimate desire

Chorus

Hey hey now well it musta been the weather

Ooh Lord child it musta been the weather

I tried to make a move, with a slap she said "I never"

Hey hey now well it musta been the weather

3) Leslie

Seven in the morning was a hundred and three

I was lying in a puddle like a ball of mercury

Just didn't have the energy to get up out of bed

Figured I would take it easy, hang at home instead

Chorus

Hey hey now well it musta been the weather

Ooh Lord child it musta been the weather

Too hot to go to work but the boss he said "you'd better"

Hey hey now well it musta been the weather

4) Greg

Well I was feeling down and gloomy and I could'nt figure why

Then I saw the sun behind some gray clouds in the sky

I'm feeling so much better 'cause the skies are getting clear

It's so important now to enjoy it while it's here

Chorus

Hey hey now well it musta been the weather

Ooh Lord child it musta been the weather

I'm feeling so darn happy I could float just like a feather

Hey hey now well it musta been the weather

5) Lisa

This song is almost over yes I think we're almost through

And there is just one little thing that we would ask of you

Will you lend your voices, sing the chorus to the song

I bet you know the words by now so come on sing along

Chorus

Hey hey now well it musta been the weather

Ooh Lord child it musta been the weather

Come on now all join in, we can sing this thing together

Hey hey now well it musta been the weather

Hey hey now well it musta been the weather

Ooh Lord child it musta been the weather

I knew it I was right with more voices it sounds better

     One, two, three, four

Hey hey now well it musta been the weather

I Don't Wanna Fall In Love

I Don't Wanna Fall In Love

written by Coddy Nuckols

1)  I don't wanna fall in love

If you're just going to walk away

I don't wanna fall  in love

Love's more to me than just one day

I don't wanna fall in love

And in the morning wake up and you're gone

I don't wanna fall in love

My heart keeps telling me that's wrong

2)  I don't wanna kiss your lips

Then hear them telling me goodbye

I don't wanna kiss your lips

If it's only going to make me cry

I don't wanna kiss you lips

Then in he morning catch them in a lie

I don't wanna kiss your lips

     'Cause heartache doesn't satisfy

Chorus

     So tell me true

Do you care enough to put your heart on the line

     Tell me true

Can your love be only mine

3)  I don't wanna hold you close

And give you all the warmth in me

I don't wanna hold you close

if tonight is all there'll ever be

I don't wanna hold you close

then in morning wake up all alone

I don't wanna hold you close

If I can't be the only one

Chorus

     But if you will stay

Risk your precious heart with me now from this day

We can share a chance at love that rarely comes along

4)  Then I'll wanna hold you close

Then I'll wanna kiss your lips

Then I'll wanna fall in love forever

You only have to tell me true

That's all I'll ever ask of you

Then The Rains Came

Then The Rains Came

written by Marti Hargrave

1)  I'm addicted to reckless abandon

I see a great divide and I gotta stick my hand in

I'm a free bird that never learned how to fly

I went to school for years but was never  taught why

I'm the lump in your throat, I'm the tear in your coat

I'm the telephone call when all you need is a note

Chorus

Then the rains came down on me

And the wind whispered my name and set me free

2)  I'm a prisoner of calculated neglect

I'm your fancy way of saying you choose to forget

     (Don't forget about me baby)

I'm the burner on the stove that you might have left on

I'm the right turn that you made that was wrong

I'm the words that get stuck, I'm your run out of luck

I'm the ten dollar bill when all you need is a buck

Chorus

Then the rains came down on me

And the wind whispered my name and set me free

     Set me free baby

And the rains came, down on me

Then the rains came, down on me

And the wind whispered my name and set me free

     (Down on me)

     And the rains came

     (Down on me)

And the wind whispered my name and set me free

     Set me free baby

Outerspace Cowboys

Outerspace Cowboys

written by Moss Reynolds, Amy Reynolds & Leslie Barker

Chorus

We’re Outerspace Cowboys roundin’ up the stars

Skippin' off the moonbeams, settlin' down on Mars

We we're tired of bein' rounders, till we got that cosmic call

On a clear night you can see us as we’re ridin' ‘round you all

1) Greg

Seems like only yesterday we were hangin’ out at Gillys

Shootin’ pool and ridin’ the bull and eyin’ all of the fillies

We were earth bound till we signed up now we’re headed for the cape

Put down your lonestar, make sure we’re all ship shape

2) Moss

Learnin', testin', findin' out all we need to know

I though gravity zero was like ridin' a bronco

And now the day has come we’re movin' on, we’re headed for the stars

As we begin to settle in, we’ll tell you who we are

Chorus

We’re Outerspace Cowboys roundin’ up the stars

Skippin' off the moonbeams, settlin' down on Mars

We we're tired of being rounders, till we got that cosmic call

On a clear night you can see us as we’re ridin' ‘round you all

   Tim: Four

 Greg: Three

Moss: Two

   Lisa: One

      All: Blastoff

3) Lisa

Our silver bullet’s passed the moon

Can’t wait till we touch down and find a Martian buckaroo

We’ll make our ranch in a crater, called the universe jubalee

With a great big sign sayin’ howdee, for all the galaxy to see

4) Tim

In a year or so we’ll have a martian rodeo

A bronc and bull with three red eyes now won’t that be a show

Well round up those space doggies, try and lasso their two heads

Send down for that good time brew or have an astroid beer instead

Chorus

We’re Outerspace Cowboys roundin’ up the stars

Skippin' off the moonbeams, settlin' down on Mars

We were tired of being rounders, till we got that cosmic call

On a clear night you can see us as we’re ridin' ‘round you all

On a clear night you can see us as we’re ridin' ‘round you all

On a clear night you can see us as we’re ridin' ‘round you all

Old Oak Tree

Old Oak Tree

written by Amy Reynolds & Leslie Barker

1)  Lisa (The Girl)

The boy he worked my daddy’s fields

     Of summer’s green sweet hay

His back so strong as he bucked the bales

His eyes on me all day

Past fields and flowers on moonlit paths

We came to the old oak tree

And he laid me down where the lilies bloomed

And I gave my love for free

Chorus

Tell me where has my lover gone?

     Where’s his mother’s broken heart?

Where has my father’s pride brought us all?

To the foot of the old oak tree

2) Greg (The Girl’s Father)

With the harvest done and the hay brought in

At the dance the drink flowed free

Some boy from the fields took my daughter by the waist,

as bold as he could be.

Well I cuffed him hard and I knocked him down

     Saying, Don’t think I don’t see --

You’ll leave this place and you’ll never come back

     Or sorry you shall be

Chorus

Tell me where has my lover gone?

     Where’s his mother’s broken heart?

Where has my father’s pride brought us all?

To the foot of the old oak tree

3) Leslie (The Boy’s Mother)

The night grew dark still my son didn’t come

     I watched the candle burn

That girl she gave what she shouldn’t have

     Would ever he return?

They found him cold at days first light

And brought him home to me

A knife in his heart for the love that he gave

At the foot of that cursed oak tree

Chorus

Tell me where has my lover gone?

     Where’s his mother’s broken heart?

Where has my father’s pride brought us all?

To the foot of the old oak tree

4) Tim (The Girl’s Evil Brother)

I saw my chance at the dance last night

As my sister played the fool

I would have the farm, father’s horses fine

     End her lover’s dalliance too

Father sealed his fate when he struck that boy

     Though his innocence he claimed

A rich old man with a flint-hard heart

They hanged him just the same

Chorus

Tell me where has my lover gone?

     Where’s his mother’s broken heart?

Where has my brother’s greed brought us all?

To the foot of the old oak tree

5) Moss  (The Boy – from the grave)

I loved her true she’d soon be my wife

In a place where we could be free

But  her brother’s cruel, with a killer’s hand

Now I’m here ‘neath the old oak tree

I sleep and dream in this good dark earth

As she comes to sing to me

Oh to kiss her lips, touch her one more time

Hold the child she bore for me

Chorus

Tell me where has my lover gone?

     Where’s his mother’s broken heart?

Where has my brother’s greed brought us all?

To the foot of the old oak tree

Where has my brother’s greed brought us all?

Tell me where has my lover gone

     Sleeping underneath the snow

     Where’s his mother’s broken heart

     Buried with him deep below

New Storm

New Storm

written by Mary Oyler & Leslie Barker

1)  Darlin’, had to wake you

I have something to say, but there’s no easy way

So bear with me, and forgive me

For disturbing your dreams but I’m coming apart at the seams

2)  Lately, I’ve been thinking

Of those long sleepless nights and those long endless fights

Now I’m aching, I am breaking

Can you open your heart and keep us from coming apart

Chorus:

     Coming apart and losing ground

Are we too late to turn it around

Are you my harbor safe to hide

Or the storm that I won’t survive

3)  Darlin’, I won’t keep you

I’m not saying goodbye but I’m telling you why

You will lose me, if you use me

Will you open your heart and keep us from coming apart

Chorus

     Coming apart and losing ground

Are we too late to turn it around

Are you my harbor safe to hide

Or the storm that I won’t survive

Bridge

Shattered and helpless I’m turning to you

A light in bad weather, will you guide me through

A new storm is brewing I’m lost and alone

I need your light to get home

Shine on your light lead me home

Chorus

     Coming apart and losing ground

Are we too late to turn it around

Are you my harbor safe to hide

Or the storm that I won’t survive

I have no place to hide

     You’re the storm that I won’t survive

I Remember

I Remember

written by Leslie Barker & Mary Oyler

1)  You think

I'm still wrapped around your little finger

      You think

You say jump and I'll say how high

You forgot you cheating ways, you forgot your lies

You forgot my broken heart, and the sleepless nights I cried

      But I remember

2)  You said

      I'll never find another better

      You said

No one else could ever take your place

You forgot somewhere along the line, you lost your soul

You forgot your cruel heart, you forgot your blood runs cold

      But I remember

3)  And now

You're back 'cause you got nowhere else to go

      And now

You’ve lost your job and you’re flat broke

I’ll remind you of the time you stumbled drunk into the house

You took me for every dime I had and laughed at me out loud

      Do you remember

      I remember

Now remember when I tell you, you're out of my life

It's a brand new day, no more heartache no more strife

      Just remember

      I remember

      I remember
